Crescent Pose

The Crescent Pose, also called High Lunge or Anjaneyasana, is a dynamic yoga posture that embodies strength, balance, and expansiveness. To assume this pose, begin in a lunge position with one foot forward and the knee bent at a 90-degree angle, directly above the ankle. The back leg is extended behind you, with the knee lifted off the ground. As you inhale, raise your arms overhead, palms facing each other or hands in prayer. Keep your chest open and shoulders relaxed. Engage your core muscles for stability and ensure your hips are squared forward. This pose provides a deep stretch for the hip flexors of the back leg while building strength in the front leg. The raised arms encourage an upward stretch, promoting a sense of expansion. As you hold the pose, focus on your breath, finding a balance between strength and relaxation. Crescent Pose can be modified to suit your comfort and level of flexibility. It’s a wonderful way to cultivate balance, open the chest, and establish a strong connection between breath and movement.
